At the 64th Annual Meeting in November 2023, NCSSFL members were tasked with giving feedback on proposed changes to NCSSFL’s Vision Statement. This reexamination was prompted by a desire to see a new statement that better reflects the work and aims of our organization and its members. The Mission Statement Committee has continued to work on this revision, and after many modifications, the committee members have landed on this revised statement. Subsequently, the proposal has been vetted and pre-approved by the NCSSFL Executive Board for submission to NCSSFL voting members for their consideration.

Current Vision Statement:

The vision of NCSSFL is a nation in which all individuals will be prepared for the demands of an interdependent world by attaining competence in more than one language and culture.

Proposed Vision Statement:

The National Council of State Supervisors for Languages envisions learning environments that inspire lifelong language learning by promoting teacher/learner agency to foster intercultural communicative competence.

This poll will close on Friday, May 31 at 11:59 PM Eastern.
