2024 Proposed Mission Statement Revision

At the 64th Annual Meeting in November 2023, NCSSFL members were tasked with giving feedback on proposed changes to NCSSFL’s Mission Statement. This reexamination was prompted by a desire to see a new statement that better reflects the work and aims of our organization and its members. The Mission Statement Committee has continued to work on this revision, and after many modifications, the committee members have landed on this revised statement. Subsequently, the proposal has been vetted and pre-approved by the NCSSFL Executive Board for submission to NCSSFL voting members for their consideration.

Current Mission Statement:

The mission of NCSSFL is to provide leadership in facilitating and promoting policies and practices that support language education.

Proposed Mission Statement:

The National Council of State Supervisors for Languages provides a professional network that advances policies and research-based practices in support of language learning.
