Inquiry about State-level Efforts to Advocate for and Support K-12 Arabic Language-Learning

The Ohio Department of Education has been engaging in a strategic dialogue with post-secondary Arabic language faculty in our state about working together to better support the growth of K-12 Arabic language opportunities. We acknowledge the good work of federal initiatives like STARTALK to help build a pipeline for Arabic and other LCTLs, but we are curious what state-level or grassroots initiatives you may have sponsored or participated in at the SEA or LEA levels to support Arabic (or another LCTL) that were particularly successful – especially those that required limited funding. Please don’t hesitate to share even the most seemingly inconsequential activity or idea. All input is welcome!
